Andy Bray is the biggest mover in the latest Bermuda Lawn Tennis Association (BLTA) rankings.

Thanks to his come-from-behind victory over top seed Jenson Bascome in the recent Heineken Open, the English newcomer has jumped into the Men's Singles rankings at number three. He is well poised to make a bid to overtake number two Donald Evans and even challenge for top billing which Bascome still holds comfortably.

An intriguing battle is in the making in the upcoming Island Construction tournament (the old Colonial Open) where Bascome will defend his title not only against Bray but possibly also against Chile's Ben Ureta, the 2001 champion and last year's runner-up.

Two players giving the Men's top ten a more youthful look are Kris Frick - who blew away the competition in the Heineken `B' competition while advancing to the quarter-finals in the `A' event - and Jacob Trott. The latter marked his return to competitive tennis by reaching the Heineken semi-finals, dispatching the likes of John Johnston en route.

Young John Masters also made a notable leap from number 53 to 15 after getting to the last eight in the Heineken `A' tournament as well as enjoying a solid performance in the `B' event.

Ashley Brooks retains the Ladies' Singles top ranking with Zarah DeSilva in the number two spot. Heinken Open winner Laverne Stowe moves up to number three while Lucy Windsor, whom Stowe defeated in the Heineken final, enters the rankings at 13.

Jo Tucker - an easy winner in the `B' event - is now ranked number four while Carrol Reid moves from number 19 to 11.

In the Men's Doubles, the perennial number one team of Ricky Mallory and Jenson Bascome withstood the challenge of Roger Marshall and David Jenkins, retaining their place at the top of the doubles rankings. The duo of Stowe and Barbara Lambert also remain the top-ranked players in Ladies' Doubles.

Ricky Mallory retains his top Mixed ranking among the men while Stowe is now the number one woman in Mixed Doubles.

In the Seniors, there's no surprise as Stowe and Lambert solidify their top ranking, having won the Ladies' 40 Doubles. Meanwhile, Eldon Daniels and David Lambert hold down the number one position, having won the Men's 45 Doubles with a victory over brothers Erwin and Earl Leader.
