Defending FA Cup champions North Village handed First Division outfit Hamilton Parish a severe beating in one of the most lopsided FA Cup semi-finals in history at Southampton Oval yesterday.

The Reds simply dominated this affair from start to finish top keep their vocal band of supporters happy in the stands, and their opponents guessing on the pitch with a 9-0 victory.

Keishen Bean?s 13th goal of the season, scored after only four minutes, effectively sealed a not-so-Hot Pepper?s fate, and booked Village?s tenth overall appearance in a FA Cup final.

Tyrell Burgess and Nakia Smith each added a brace while Kevin, Keith and Jemeiko Jennings and 16-year-old forward Shayne Hollis put the finishing touches to a defeat Parish will quickly want to forget.

?I?m happy with the result because we are a Premier Division side and so it?s our responsibility to play like one,? commented Reds coach Dwayne (Streaker) Adams moments after watching his charges completely annihilate Parish at the Oval.

Such was Village?s dominance, their opponents did not manage a single shot on goal until the 73rd minute when substitute Corey Hill?s header was parried away by Reds? ?keeper Zane Hendrickson who otherwise had an uneventful afternoon between the uprights.

Parish?s only other shot on target came off the boot of former Village striker Sean Dill who shot over seven minutes from time.

?I thought with all the talk they had Parish would have been a bit more aggressive,? Adams added.

?But they weren?t and that allowed us to run at them, and that?s exactly what we did. I just thought our guys stuck to the original game plan which ultimately allowed us to score more goals.?

Yesterday?s win also inched Village ever closer to what could be a second triple crown championship (League, Friendship Trophy and FA Cup) overall and first since 1977-78.

No local club has achieved the feat since Vasco Da Gama in 1997-98.

Village now await the winner of this Sunday?s remaining FA Cup semi-final at BAA Field featuring Dandy Town and Devonshire Cougars in what will be a repeat of the 2004 final which saw Hornets emerge victorious in a replay at the National Sports Centre (NSC).
