Laurence Noble's Dakar Rally has come to an end.

The employee of the Bermuda-based Aon company was among nearly 500 cars, motorcycles and trucks carrying nearly 1,000 competitors taking part in the event which kicked off in Marseille, France on January 1.

Noble, riding a Honda XR650 motorcycle in the Super Production category, completed five stages of the gruelling event before pulling out after reaching El Borma in Tunisia while in 157th place.

It was not known yesterday what led to his withdrawal.
