Peckett making waves in UK
A Bermudian who learned to water ski in the Great Sound and Castle Harbour is now making waves in that sport in Britain, writes Gayle Alleyne.
Tim Peckett won a silver medal in the slalom in the Senior One Men's category - his age group - of the British National Water Skiing Championships which took place in Middlesex, England, from August 2-4.
He also finished 15th in the Open division slalom in which he faced some of Britain's top professional and amateur water skiers.
This performance came on the heels of his victory in the Men's Open slalom at the Greater London and South East Regional Slalom Championships on July 13.
"I developed my technique in the less than ideal conditions of the Great Sound and Castle Harbour and, most of the time, without the benefit of a slalom course," said Peckett.
The 38-year-old, who works in London for the Crowe Insurance Group, a subsidiary of Stockton Re, Bermuda, competes regularly in slalom tournaments throughout the UK.
When he is in Bermuda he sometimes skis with Kent Richardson who was once a competitive water skier but is now better known as a triathlete.
