Race on to beat entry deadline
Entries are beginning to pour in for next month?s International Race Weekend.
Organisers reported this week that already 265 athletes had registered for the January 16-18 road running festival which, as usual, will feature the Front Street Mile (January 16), the International 10K (January 17) and the International Marathon and Half-Marathon (January 18)
Of those entered so far, 45 will compete in the 10K (6.2 miles), 101 in the Half-Marathon (13.1 miles) and 119 in the full Marathon (26.2 miles).
Of this total, 195 competitors are from overseas.
Meanwhile, race secretary Pam Shailer yesterday moved to clarify any confusion over the entry deadline for overseas and Bermuda residents.
The deadline for residents, said Shailer, was Friday, January 2. After this date, all local runners would be required to pay a late fee.
The December 1 deadline was for overseas runners to mail their entries to Bermuda so as to avoid the Christmas mail rush.
Entry forms for all of the races are available at local sport shops.
Trials for the Front Street Mile are scheduled to take place at the National Sports Centre this Sunday (December 7) and the following Saturday (December 13).
