North Village Rams top the Commercial League table after Key West Rangers and BAA could only a manage a point in an even encounter at Southampton Oval.

Village withstood dominant Onions in the first half and took the lead ten minutes into the second when a penalty was awarded for a foul by Steve Woodward on Tillman Darrell who converted the penalty. Rams doubled their lead five minutes later when poor defending allowed Damon Wade to dribble inside the box and score from eight yards out.

Onions should have pulled a goal back when substitute Nigel Forrester crossed to Colin Keane who failed to make contact in front of an open goal. Keane made amends shortly after when he beat the keeper with a shot from 12 yards out.

With Onions pushing for an equaliser Rams scored their third goal on the counter-attack with Wade left unmarked with a clear run on goal. Onions finished the game with ten men when Eoghan O?Dwyer was sent off for a second yellow card although the club dispute a first was ever given.

Key West looked to have bagged three points against BAA after Quinton Burgess poked home in a goal-mouth scramble. However the dying moments saw BAA snatch a point when Adam Shaw headed home from a Dave Gibbs cross.

Dandy Town Roots, much improved over last year, go up to third after a controversial 2-0 over Lobster Pot. Roots were awarded an indirect free kick when the goalkeeper was penalised for the six-second rule as he prepared to take a goal-kick and Michael Wells rammed the ball home from the free-kick after the ball bounced in the area.

Pot, who conceded a late Mark Trott penalty and who had John Lappin and Tom Cusack red-carded for foul language, are appealing for the game to be replayed after arguing the six-second rule only applies when the ball is in play, not from dead ball situations.

Island XI picked up their first victory with the 2-1 defeat of PHC. Both goals came from set pieces. Paul Mello latched on to a free from Phil Rego and just before the break a Ben Pewter corner reached Teddy Terceira who volleyed home. PHC scored with a late penalty.

Robin Hood drew 1-1 with Tuff Dogs who scored with a Joe Carolo header from a Chris Lima cross but just minutes later Hood captain Gary Ray fired in a cross for Kenny Dill to bang home.

In the B Division relegated Valley are still showing a lot of form, brushing aside Vasco Mariners in a very entertaining and competitive game. Valley quickly got off the mark within the first ten minutes with a goal from Jonathan Eve. The remainder of the half was fairly even until Valley picked up a second goal mid-way through the half by Donovan Hensdiek.

In the second half, a revived Mariners controlled the game and their pressure eventually paid off with a fine shot from Bo Saggar who spotted the goalkeeper off his line. But with the time winding down and the Mariners pressing for an equaliser, a counter attack from Valley saw Kevin Isaac dispatch a simple header to kill off the game.

Bragging rights in Devonshire belong firmly to Lions who dispatched Devonshire All-Stars 8-1. Wali Salaam grabbed a hat-trick, Chris Pitcher got two while Maxwell Dill, Sinclair Trott, and Anthony Emery all weighed in during the rout.

Meanwhile in the Sandys derby Somerset Extros are top dogs after beating their West End rivals Somerset Bridge Peskies 6-1. Anthony (Berka) Burchall grabbed a hat-trick while two strikes from Rodney (The Key) Bascome and one from his older brother Kent Bascome completed the rout.

St. George?s All-Stars once again won by default when Prospect/Fire was not able to field a team while Boulevard won for the same reason against Pest Control.

Meanwhile Key West?s Paul Towlson has been banned for four games for head-butting an opponent during his club?s abandoned encounter with Tuff Dogs on October 14. And Stephen Pett of Tuff dogs will serve a six-game ban for extreme dissent and threats and he has also been ordered to replace the referee?s cards while his brother Chris Pett, also dismissed during the disgraceful scenes at BAA field, will go before the disciplinary committee when he returns to the Island. However the BFA have yet to decide whether to replay the game.
