Rude Girls on best behaviour . . .
Rude Girls stormed through to yet another Women?s FA Cup final courtesy of a 4-2 win over Dandy Stars at Wellington Oval yesterday.
Rude Girls went ahead in the 16th minute through Zakena Clarke who fired home from long range. But Stars? inspirational player Stacey Smith drew the teams level a minute before the break with a text-book lob from an acute angle on the edge of the 18-yard box.
Rude Girls? top poacher Chevonne Furbert restored her team?s lead shortly after watching an effort come back off the bar. And they had an opportunity to extend that lead but Furbert?s penalty kick was twice saved by Stars ?keeper Rhonda Jones.
Stars suffered a setback when Kamesha Wolfe fell to the ground awkwardly and was later whisked away by ambulance, and then found themselves in a deeper hole when Furbert redirected Shivon Washington?s cross past Jones to give Rude Girls a commanding 3-1 lead.
But Stars refused to lie down and reduced the deficit to one when Smith scored her second goal by forcing the ball across the line during a goalmouth scramble.
Rude Girls super sub Nakita Dill, however, jumped off the bench to finally put paid to Stars? hopes with a beautifully taken free kick which clipped the upright as it curled in at the back post.
