Saltus unbeaten on Canadian tour

Saltus Grammar School?s senior football team have made a flying start to their annual tour of Canada.

Facing two games on the first day, they began by beating Holy Trinity Courtice 2-1 with Jason Smith netting both of the Saltus goals thanks to the work of Dante Leverock.

Holy Trinity are their area champions.

The Island team then travelled another hour to meet Trinity College School?s second team and overran their opposition 10-1.

A thunderbolt from Mark James opened the floodgates with Jason Smith (2), Dante Leverock, Akil Trott, Lozendro Symonds, Ziggy Stoneham, Marquel Waldron, Giovan Logie and an own goal completing the Saltus victory.

The touring side then took on Upper Canada College and came out 4-3 winners, having created enough chances to have won far more comfortably.

Goalscorers were Jason Smith, Terryn Fray, Ziggy Stoneham and an own goal. Fray also had a hand in Smith?s and Stoneham?s goals.

Kijaun WIlkinson enjoyed a strong game in the Saltus defence as the Toronto school pushed hard to get an equaliser, while Marquel Waldron marshalled the midfield in excellent fashion.
