Singleton 29th at Worlds
Winter Olympian Patrick Singleton will make his third and final run in today's Skeleton World Championship in Germany after finishing 29th on day one.
Singleton, struggling with a bad back following a slip on the ice after training last week, completed his two runs in a total time of 1:41.34 yesterday, leaving him well down the 33-man field.
With a push time of 5.15 seconds on both runs, Singleton managed 50.84 on the day's first outing on the Konigsee circuit to leave him 30th overall, but improved to 50.50 on his next slide to claim 29th spot overnight.
The top 20 sliders get a second run today (and a fourth overall) to decide the winner, but Singleton is likely to miss out as he currently sits more than one-and-a-half-seconds outside the cut-off point.
Singleton, who described just the qualification for this event as "the greatest achievement of my sporting career so far", finished ahead of Iain Roberts (New Zealand), Martin Burkhard (South Africa), Ivan Pokos (Croatia) and Sergey Chudinov (Russia).
