Sisters Isabella and Gabbie Arnold, members of Bermuda?s TRex triathlon programme, both turned in excellent performances yesterday to win their age groups in the Town North Triathlon in Dallas, Texas.

Isabella, competing in the girls? 11-12 age group over a 200-metre swim, five-mile bike and 1.5-mile run, dominated the event to finish first out of 18 girls in 33 minutes and 19 seconds.

Gabbie, in the girls? 9-10 division over a 100-metre swim, 2.5-mile bike and one-mile run, also claimed victory among 17 girls, clocking 21 minutes, 11 seconds ? over a minute ahead of the second-place finisher and good enough for seventh overall among 37 boys and girls.

The sisters, who are spending their summer holidays in the USA, have had to train indoors using treadmills and life cycles for their run and bike training and have been swimming with a local swim coach.

They will now prepare for the much tougher inaugural US Triathlon Association?s Junior National Championships in Wisconsin on August 26.
