Sluggo wants to leave Stars
Dwayne (Sluggo) Leverock?s days at Western Stars seem to be done ? one way or the other.
At a meeting with officials from the St. John?s Road club on Tuesday, the burly all-rounder informed them that he no longer cares to play for them.
Now he is awaiting word on whether he will be released or not.
It?s the latest twist in a saga which saw the popular cricketer announcing his intention to transfer to Southampton Rangers before procedural hiccups thwarted that bid and he was forced to contemplate a return to his old team Stars.
He was not selected for the first two matches last weekend but club president Cal Blankendal explained this had nothing do with the circumstances of his supposed return to the club and stressed that Tuesday?s session was simply ?to clear the air?.
However, this was obviously not the case.
After being summoned by letter to the meeting, Leverock left with the following settiment:?They asked me what do I feel and I told them I don?t wish to play for them anymore and that I wish to be released,? he told yesterday.
The 33-year-old, who expects a decision on the matter from the club by the weekend, declined to divulge his reasons for wanting to leave Stars describing the situation as ?personal?.
Asked if this means he is in danger of sitting out the entire season, he replied: ?I?m dealing with other avenues but I can?t really talk about that at this time.?
Leverock is currently not training with the national squad ahead of international fixtures at home and abroad in the Americas Cup and Inter Continental Cup.
