St. George?s brushed aside Social Club in championship style with this whopping innings and 194-run victory at Wellington Oval in Premier Division action over the weekend.

Inspiring the eastenders to victory was acting skipper Herbie Bascome who had a haul of nine wickets for 66 in two innings while Ankoma Crane and Bascome provided batting highlights, Crane striking 88 and Bascome 66.

After dismissing Social Club for a paltry 68, St. George?s finished the first day on 270 for seven and continued the assault on the bowling yesterday by adding 116 more when they already appeared to have sufficient to win by an innings.

On Saturday, Bascome and Allan Douglas Jr. dismantled Social Club with some good bowling, Bascome finishing with five for 47 in 12.4 overs with two maidens while Douglas had the astonishing analysis of four for a mere six runs off ten overs with five maidens.

Player-coach Charlie Marshall was top bat for Social Club with 14 while Kanhai Darrell followed on 13 not out.

After a dismal batting performance, little did Social Club know what brutality lied ahead for their bowlers with eight St. George?s batsmen reaching double figures. Cannonier led the way with 88 striking 17 fours while Bascome followed on 66, including eight fours and four sixes.

Also in double figures were Detroy Smith with 48, Eugene Foggo 35, Jade Foggo 31, Oronde Bascome 18 and Jeron Dickinson 10.

Kanhai Darrell snatched up three wickets for Social Club but was costly giving up 131 while bowling 20 overs. Teenager Pierre Smith took two for 41 off 5.1 overs and Charles Warren two for 54 off nine overs.

Social Club batsmen were more productive a second time around but still not good enough to prevent a sound thumping.

Jaymo Durham was top scorer with 31 while opener David Campbell followed on 27 and Charlie Marchall on 26.

Bascome finished with four for 19 off ten overs with five maidens while Jade Foggo claimed three for 45 off nine overs with one maiden.
