Southend up ? and I couldn?t be happier!
So we?ve done it and it feels great.
That?s seven promotions for me in 17 years ? that?s not a bad number and this one was thrilling.
It was a real tough game against Swansea on Saturday. Both teams battled and played with fight and guts. They were probably the better team in the first half and pretty much nullified myself and Freddy Eastwood.
They went a goal ahead and then we pulled it back and then they went ahead again.
But I felt we could come back in the second half and I remember saying to the lads ?we are still in this, let?s just stay calm and not go another goal behind?.
When you are one down it is easy to throw the towel in, start making excuses or blaming each other but it was just a case of hanging on in.
If we could stay within a goal of them, it was only going to be a matter of time before we pulled one back and got back into the match.
In the end it was a piece of genius from Freddy again that got us the point. He?s having an exceptional season and it is no real surprise he scored again.
I came off with about five minutes to go and I didn?t want to know the other results from the other matches that affected whether or not we went up with a point or not.
I just wanted to watch the rest of the game and then worry about it. But one of the other subs, Lee Bradbury, whispered to me that the Brentford game wasn?t going our way.
When our game finished I went on the pitch and I was shaking hands with the other team and I still didn?t know what was going on. It was a good ten or 15 seconds ? although it felt like an eternity ? before I realised that we were up.
Our fans were dancing around, singing songs and going mental and it sounded like they were chanting ?we are up? or something like that and then Lee said the result had gone our way at the other match after all.
I then sprinted down to the Southend fans to join in the fun.
Just because I won?t be with them next year doesn?t make the promotion any less special.
It was a great party and nothing less than we deserved. You make your own luck and we didn?t just make it in the last game, we have been making it all season with some hard grafting and grinding out some important results.
It?s great that we have clinched promotion and now we can think about winning that title.
I can?t wait for this weekend?s game with the gombeys and all the excitement.
I?m so looking forward to it, words can hardly describe how I feel about the whole thing. I wish the whole of Bermuda could be there ? it?s going to be one big party.
There are a lot of people coming over from Bermuda, there?ll be the Man City fans there, we?ve just got promoted and throw in the gombeys and you have the perfect day.
As a team, all we need to do is win the trophy and all I need to do as an individual is score another of my legendary screamers!
