So, another drawn Cup Match, albeit an exciting one with lots of batting records falling by the wayside. I'd like to put forward the following suggestions regarding Cup Match in general, and see what sort of feedback is received:1) In order to eliminate drawn games, play two days of limited overs cricket, but alter the usual rules slightly so that the side that scores more runs on the first day takes that advantage into the second day. Add the totals after both days, and the team with the higher total wins. In the unlikely event of a tie the away team wins, like the away goals rule in European Cup football matches.

Dear Sir,

So, another drawn Cup Match, albeit an exciting one with lots of batting records falling by the wayside. I'd like to put forward the following suggestions regarding Cup Match in general, and see what sort of feedback is received:

1) In order to eliminate drawn games, play two days of limited overs cricket, but alter the usual rules slightly so that the side that scores more runs on the first day takes that advantage into the second day. Add the totals after both days, and the team with the higher total wins. In the unlikely event of a tie the away team wins, like the away goals rule in European Cup football matches.

2) While I know it's traditional to play Cup Match games at Wellington Oval and Somerset, there are better parking facilities and more room at St. David's and White Hill fields. It may just be time to consider moving the Cup Match games to those two venues.
