All-Star Bascome on losing side

David Bascome ended up on the losing side in the Major Indoor Soccer League's All-Star Game.

Bascome, a striker with the Harrisburg Heat, failed to score as the Western Conference beat the East 20-13 on Sunday in Milwaukee. It was the third year running he had made the starting line-up.

"It's an accomplishment, but it's not my final act," said Bascome, who also made an All-Star appearance in 1999, in an interview with The Patriot-News. Bascome was also selected for the 1997 contest in Baltimore, but a shoulder injury forced him to miss out.

"I don't go into the season thinking I've got to make the All-Star game and score goals," added Bascome, whose 80 points (36 goals, 7 assists) tops the Heat. "Personal achievements are great, but you just feel so much more winning championships."
