After three substitute appearances in three games, Shaun Goater has been handed the chance to hone his fitness and at the same time prove to Reading boss Steve Coppell he should in the starting line-up.

Goater has been selected for the Royals? reserve team ahead of today?s game with Crystal Palace.

Reading have named a strong side for the game at nearby Didcot Town, which kicks off at 10 a.m. Bermuda time.

As well as the big Bermudian striker, Reading will have first teamers Darius Henderson, Kevin Watson, Nathan Tyson, Omar Daley and Bas Savage in the line-up.

Goater will be hoping a goal or two will prick Coppell?s conscience before Saturday?s crunch First Division clash with top of the table Wigan Athletic at the Madejski Stadium.
