Star trio ready to leave Rangers?

Southampton Rangers could lose the services of three of the Island?s World Cup players next season.

Meshach Wade, Rohaan Simons and Ottis Steede have all obtained releases from the South Shore club as each are contemplating turning out for a rival club.

Other Rangers players who could be on the move are defender Omari Hart, Donnie Charles, who sat last season out through suspension, and forward Kwame Tucker.

Although it has not yet been confirmed, reports are that the Rangers players want to switch to neighbouring PHC Zebras or Somerset Trojans.

Both Tucker and Simons have enjoyed short spells at Somerset Cricket Club in the past while Wade was a part of the Zebras squad which captured multiple league and cup titles in the late ?80s and early ?90s.

Others clubs who could be hit hard by an exodus of players include last season?s two relegated Premier Division teams, Devonshire Colts and Hamilton Parish, who combined have had 22 players obtain releases.

In addition to strikers Lloyd Holder, Marvin Belboda and Aljame Zuill, Kevin Simpson and Jamel Simmons, Colts? coach Ray Jones has also decided to throw in the towel after being at the helm of the team for a lengthy spell.

Parish may discover life in the First Division tough without World Cup forward Clevon Hill, former Wolves player Vincent Minors, former skipper Alvin Baker and hard-working defender Jamel Dill who are all seeking greener pastures.

Another Premier Division club, Somerset Eagles, are facing a clear-out as Stevie Burrows, Sean Simmons, Keion Simmons, ?keeper Adrian Burrows and national team defender Musceo Hunt have acquired releases from the White Hill club.

Meanwhile, promoted Somerset Trojans appear to have come through the release period reasonably unscathed as Jermaine Gibbons and Adam Outerbridge, who has seen limited action since joining from Wolves, are the only two players looking to move on.

However, the same cannot be said for last season?s First Division league champions, PHC Zebras, who could be reintroduced to top flight football minus key striker and World Cup campaigner Stephen Astwood as well as promising player Dennis Russell, both of whom are apparently hoping to join another club.

Not surprisingly, Premier Division league and FA Cup champions Dandy Town have managed to retain the nucleus of their top players along with cross-town bridesmaids Devonshire Cougars.

Martonmere, Friendship Trophy and Charity Cup champions North Village have had veteran forward Dwight (Payback) Warren along with promising Bermuda Under-20 goalkeeper Daniel Johnson obtain releases.

Village have also yet to find a suitable replacement for coach Scott Morton who relinquished his post at the end of the 2003-04 season.
