Three members of Swan?s Running Club, having run the May 24 Marathon Derby as a ?warm-up?, then took part in a series of races built around the Ottawa Marathon.

Some 30,000 runners took part in a series of five races over two, five and 10 kilometres as well as a half-marathon and the full marathon in temperatures in the 80s.

Bermuda?s Cal (Marathon Man) Steede placed 93rd out of 6,000 runners in the 5K and then ran the full marathon in three hours and 15 minutes.

Carol Griffiths and Elvin Thomas also competed in both the 5K and marathon, Griffiths finishing the 26.2 miler in 4:25 and Thomas in 4:40.

Swans? Running Club will host this Sunday?s Ed Sherlock Five Mile Road Race and Walk, starting at 8.30 a.m.

A three mile junior race will also be held. Late entries will be accepted on race day.
