Somerset Eagles 10 Paget 0

Eagles soared to the top of the First Division table with a lopsided victory over lowly Paget thanks in the main to a hat-trick by Jelani Butterfield.

Eagles coasted from start to finish at White Hill Field and will probably not have an easier game all season with Paget unable to offer any sustained pressure once referee Joe Pimental started the contest.

After just 10 minutes Eagles underlined their superiority when Stevie Burrows put them 1-0 up and further goals followed by Butterfield after 19 minutes, Rodre Wilson after 27 minutes and centre-back Desmond Burgess after 35 minutes.

Paget, looking demoralised after falling beind 3-0, had Robert Lee sent off for using foul language after 28 minutes and his departure made an already difficult task impossible.

Eagles immediately stormed all over Paget when play restarted with additional goals coming from Darnell Pickney, Aldolphus Lambert, Butterfield again, Wilson and substitute Lamaul Crofton. Hat-trick hero Butterfield then rifled home the goal of the game two minutes from time from the edge of the penalty box.

Such was the dominance of Eagles that goalkeeper Adrian Burrows often wandered into the Paget penalty in search of a goal for himself whenever Eagles forced a corner. But such was Paget's inability to advance that Burrows was never made to pay for his boldness.

In sharp contrast at the other end Paget's starting goalkeeper Wayne Smith was busy throughout and after he had let in nine goals he was replaced by Jamal Darrell. However, by then the damage had long been done.

Prospect 7 St. David's 1

Any slim hope St. David's had of keeping pace with the league leaders suffered a cruel blow when they were decisively beaten by Prospect at Police Field.

The east enders, who entered the day in fourth place, were competitive for the first 45 minutes but allowed Prospect to get a firm grip of play in the second half and put the result completely out of reach.

Carlos Lopes and John Richmond led the Prospect attack with two goals apiece while single goals came from Steve Gair, skipper Clifford Roberts and Najee Woods.

YMSC 3 S. Rangers 8

Southampton Rangers arrived just in time for Christmas, finally handing coach Ronue Cann a long awaited win as they trounced fellow strugglers Social Club at Bernard Park yesterday.

Not only did Social Club show up for this match with a full complement of players - a rarity in itself - but they also managed to match Rangers goal for goal for much of the first half before Herbie Dillas opened the floodgates moments before the interval during a scintillating five-goal opening half.

Rangers' Jason Raynor made amends for his midweek penalty miss against Somerset Eagles in the Shield, by grabbing a pair, along with Dillas, while Oscar Riley, Mtume Hart, Brenton Harris and veteran Shawn Simmons all chipped in with one goal apiece.

Social Club tallied via two goals from the boot of Eric Dunkley and a lone strike from Alvin Leverock.
