Time running out to break record

With only four race days left, time is running out if the harness racing record is to fall at Vesey Street this year.

Joe Viera's Killer's Legacy won both heats of the Free For All ‘B' Division. In the first heat, he came out of the number three hole and went right to the front and finished in 1:05.4, matching his fastest time of the season which is four fifths of a second off the track record.

GV Colonel Spence and Tuxedo's Bowtie are also capable of setting a new track record. They had one win each in the Free For All ‘A' Division, both going in 1:06.1. The veteran Nateway, driven by Jason Lopes, won the 1:09.2 to 1:11.2 ‘B' Division in 1:08.3, so he will move back up to the Junior Free For All. LA Erma Time (David Lopes) finished second and went on to win the second heat in 1:09.4, her fastest time of the season. Joe Viera picked up four wins, two each with Indian Creek Aries and Killer's Legacy.

David Burrows Jr also had four wins, two each with WS Storm A Coming and Fancy That. Other double winners were Bobby Degraff's filly, GV Special Wind and veteran mare, Ponder Babe, driven by Michael Roberts.

Racing resumes on Sunday. Post time is 12 noon. February 1 will feature the ‘Best Three Stakes Finals', with the season-ending Champion of Champions on February 8 and 9.
