Tough at CACS
National coach Gerry Swan's prediction that it was going to be tough going at the CAC Track and Field Championships in Nassau, Bahamas, over the weekend unfortunately materialised.
The opening day saw Olympic sprinter Xavier James make the semi-finals of the 100m with a time of 10.69 only to be disqualified because of false starts.
His weekend didn't improve yesterday, when his 21.66 seconds 200m time proved to be a quarter-of-a-second short of a semi-final place.
Zindzi Swan, a multiple Carifta medallist, also struggled, jumping 11.81m but coming last in the triple jump final.
Yesterday Michael Donawa finished 6th in his 800m heat in 1:56.60, not nearly enough to earn him a final spot and Gabriel Wilkinson's 51.94m hammer throw saw him finish last in his final.
As of press time last night, Ashley Couper ? the 2003 1,500m winner ? and Deon Brangman (high jump) were yet to compete while Swan goes again in the long jump.
