Tough task for Under 20 World Cup team

BERMUDA'S Under 20 national football team face a tough task next week in World Cup qualifying when they travel to the Cayman Islands to play in Group B qualifying matches against Jamaica, Puerto Rico and hosts Cayman.

The team will be led by head coach Kentoine Jennings and will leave on Monday. When they get to the Cayman Islands they will be met by Bermuda Football Association technical director Derek Broadley who has been with the island's Under 17 team who have been competing in the USA Cup tournament in Blaine, Minnesota.

Assisting will be Jack Castle and for the past four months they have been putting the players through their paces

Much will depend on the likes of Marquel Waldron and Kristofer Frick for their leadership. These two players were members of the just concluded National senior men's World Cup team who played against Trinidad.

The Under 20 side will play three matches in five days in the heat of the Caribbean and the coaching staff and players know what they are up against as only two of the teams from Group B will go through to the next stage of qualifying which will be played in September although the location has yet to be named.

Bermuda's opening match will be against the Cayman Islands on Wednesday and they then take on Jamaica on Friday in what is expected to be their toughest test. On Sunday, July 27, they play their final game against Puerto Rico.

The team is: Mikkail Crockwell, Thaj Bell, Miles Brewer, Kemo Harrison, Akil Trott, Jesse Seymour, Marquel Waldron, Roger Lee, GiniKo Butterfield, Ernest Trott, Casey Castle, Philip Parson, Kristofer Frick, Charles Watson, Tumani Steede, Kamauri Brangman, Shayne Hollis, Ian Coke, Raymond Tucker, Pierre Smith.

Kentoine Jennings (head coach), Kenneth Castle (assistant coach), Dwayne Phipps, Michelle Romaine, Lloyd Smith (head of delegation).
