US college teams on Bermuda tour
TWO American collegiate football teams are on the island this week to play Bermuda's women's national team and teams from the BFA's Women's Division.
John Carroll University (JCU), located near Cleveland, Ohio and Babson College, out of Massachusetts are both Division III programmes. Last year, Babson finished with a winning season 11-7-2 while JCU struggled with a 6-10-3 record.
According to national team coach Vance Brown, his team has been preparing for the past two months.
"We have been training since June 1. Training has been good and our numbers are high. We also had a week training camp with an overseas college coach," he said.
Coach Brown has high hopes for his team.
"John Carroll University has been here before so we know a little about the team and so we are looking to do well against them. We don't know too much about Babson so we will do our best."
Coach Brown views this summer tournament as ongoing warm-up for the upcoming Island Games in the summer of 2009.
All games are scheduled to be played at 6:30 p.m. at PHC.
