Bermuda opener OJ Pitcher was in the runs for St. David?s yesterday at Lords as the Islanders handed Somerset a 67-run defeat.

Pitcher, who will be vice-captain of the St. George?s Cup Match side at Somerset this week, stroked a match-best 79 as the hosts racked up a commanding total of 246 for nine off their 50 overs, with George O?Brien (30 not out) and Chris Foggo (24) also helping the score along.

In reply, young seamer Stefan Kelly (three for 38) and offspinner Del Hollis did most of the damage, while George O?Brien also chipped in with two wickets of his own to undermine Somerset?s run chase.

Tony Cheeseman (26) and Wendell White (18) were the only two recognised Somerset batsmen to look comfortable, as number eleven David Gibbs (30) helped the visitors reach respectability with some powerful blows at the death.
