Wilson sent home after door broken
Bermuda's Under-19 World Cup team has seen another player sent packing for disciplinary reasons.
Tmiko Wilson has returned to the Island from Canada ahead of his team-mates after smashing a sliding door with a bat at the team's hotel in anger over what he thought was a missing jersey.
This incident follows the explusions of Treadwell Gibbons Jr and George O'Brien Jr from the squad for fighting at a training session before the Bermudians left for Toronto to compete in the ICC Americas Under-19 World Cup Qualifier.
Team manager Andre Manders explained that Wilson thought another player had taken one of his jerseys and responded with the violent act.
"If it had happened when he was joking around or something we wouldn't have sent him home but it was deliberate.
"He was mad and he just took his anger out in that way. We can't afford that," said Manders, adding that the Bermuda Cricket Board (BCB) must pay for the damage.
"It's a few hundred dollars. We have not gotten the estimate yet. They (hotel authorities) are going to let us know."
What perhaps made the incident even more pointless was that the "missing" jersey was in Wilson's room all the time.
Manders said that after discussions with Wilson's mother it was agreed the youngster be sent home.
"We don't just want to send them home without any reason. They were warned before they left that (they would be disciplined) for any instance like that, especially with a bat," noted the coach, adding that Wilson was "remorseful" about his behaviour.
