Brangman credits team effort for promotion to Premier Division

Player-coach Ricky Brangman, Sr. yesterday reflected on Devonshire Rec.'s First Division title success to secure their promotion.

Brangman's men beat PHC on Sunday to secure top-flight cricket alongside Police next season. They won 11 out of their 14 games, accumulating 22 points.

"It's been an excellent season for us," said Brangman. "Promotion was always our aim and we're delighted to have achieved it. We've felt ready to make the step up to the Premier Division for a number of years now but always missed out.

"I wouldn't single out any one player as promotion was a team effort. Obviously skipper Dean Stephens has been integral to our success and batted well all season.

"Next season will be a challenge for us as the Premier Division is nothing like the First Division – it's a lot more serious.

"But I think it will be a great experience for these players as most of the players haven't played in the top-flight before."

"I have to say hats off to our veteran Allan Richardson, he hardly ever failed with the bat for us and his experience was invaluable. His presence at the top of the order was really beneficial and he also helped with the coaching."

Rec. were awarded two points by the Bermuda Cricket Board from last month's fixture against Leg Trappers at the Sea Breeze Oval, which was called off after the pitch had not been prepared by Bailey's Bay on behalf of Leg Trappers, the home team.
