Breaking news: Bermuda piles up 259-5
Bermuda 259-5
David Hemp continued his fine form at Senwes Park today, nudging his way to an unbeaten century to propel Bermuda to 259 after being sent in by Kenya.
The ex-Glamorgan captain hit nine boundaries off 152 balls and brought up his century in 209 minutes in the last over of the innings with a boundary off seamer Lameck Ng'oche.
Hemp anchored Bermuda's innings and added 107 runs for the first wicket with Fiqre Crockwell, who hit a well-played 45 off 89 balls before he was superbly grabbed at point off the bowling of left arm spinner Hiren Varaiya.
He also shared in two brisk half-century stands, adding 53 runs with Stephen Outerbridge (31) and 55 runs with Glenn Blakeney (30) as Bermuda gathered 52 runs off the batting power play.
Blakeney departed in the 45th over, bowled by fast bowler Thomas Odoyo in his second spell.
However, there was little reprieve for the Kenyans as Hemp and skipper Irving Romaine (21 not out) belted 41 runs off just 25 balls in an unbroken sixth wicket stand.
Five Kenyan bowlers claimed a wicket each.
Kenya are chasing 260 for victory at a run rate of 5.2 runs per over.
Bermuda are without key strike bowler George O'Brien Jr. who has an injured left knee.
