Cricketers face Danish test
Bermuda's new-look cricket team take on Denmark in the first of two 50-overs matches today in Brondby as the post World Cup era commences.
With just 12 players at coach Gus Logie's disposal ¿ and without cricketing powerhouses Janeiro Tucker, Clay Smith, OJ Pitcher and Kevin Hurdle ¿ Bermuda's tour of Europe will be a testing one.
Just four of the World Cup squad ¿ skipper Irvine Romaine, new vice-captain Stephen Outerbridge, Lionel Cann and Dwayne Leverock ¿ were among those who jetted off to Scandinavia on Monday.
Preparations for the tour have been less than ideal with many influential players unable to travel due to work commitments or personal reasons.
Among the new faces are youngsters Jekon Edness, Jacobi Robinson, Arthur Pitcher, Roderick Masters, Dwight Basden and James Celestine.
Malachi Jones, Stefan Kelly and Rodney Trott from Bermuda's Under-19 squad, who fly to Toronto today for their World Cup regional qualifiers, will join up with the senior team ahead of the game against Ireland later in the tour.
The opening games against Denmark are not full one-day internationals because the Danes did not qualify for the World Cup and ODI status.
