Cup Match start 'live' on TV

For the first time, the opening hour of play from this year's Cup Match will be screened live on television.

The annual classic, to be held at Somerset Cricket Club this summer, will also be shown exclusively on ZBM TV9 between 4 p.m. and close of play.

Bermuda Broadcasting Company (BBC) also revealed at yesterday's conference at Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute (BUEI) that it would be showing all 31 Euro 2008 fixtures on ZFB TV7. The showpiece competition, held in Austria and Switzerland, will feature 16 countries including Portugal and Italy.

The popular "On the Bench" series, hosted by outspoken sports personality Nick Jones will also return on ZFV TV9 and ZBM Talk Radio during Euro 2008. Former Manchester City striker Shaun Goater and Bermuda Hogges co-owner Paul Scope will be among the studio guests.

Rick Richardson, BBC chief executive officer, said Cup Match organisers believed attendances at SCC would be enhanced from having the first hour of the game shown on television.

** Bermuda Cricket Board announced yesterday they had omitted two names from the transfer list released over the weekend. Allan Douglas is switching from St.George's to Devonshire Rec., while Wilburt Burt is moving from St. George's to Devonshire Rec.
