Ex-Dandy Town pee wee Kaylohn nets four and grabs the headlines
The Bermudian netted four goals to inspire his youth team, Whittlesey Green, to a 6-0 triumph over rivals Yaxley.
DeShield, who admires Manchester United striker Luis Saha, is a former Dandy Town pee wee footballer and student of West Pembroke Primary.
He now resides in the town of Whittlesey, Peterborough and is a grade seven student at the Sir Harry Smith College.
DeShield supports Dandy Town locally and Manchester United in the UK, and hopes to play the sport professionally in the future.
The youngster said he enjoys playing football in the UK, but has yet to fully adjust to playing in the cooler temperatures.
“My hands get a little bit cold and the ground is a bit harder, but it’s really nice playing over here and the competition is a little tough,” DeShield told TheRoyal Gazette speaking from the UK yesterday.
The youngster, who kicks with both feet, has set himself a target of 26 goals to aim for this season.
“I think I can achieve my goal,” DeShield added. “I really like playing with my team mates at Whittlesey. And it’s really not a major difference playing over here from in Bermuda.
“We have a little club at our home field and we play every Sunday.”
Whittlesey have lost only one game all season and currently remain in the hunt for the championship.
“We’re doing okay in the league. We’ve won five games and lost only one,” DeShield said. “We are in second place and hopefully we can go on and win the championship.”
