Harrington confirms he will play
Padraig Harrington has confirmed his appearance at the PGA Grand Slam of Golf despite suffering from fatigue and a catalogue of injuries, Premier Ewart Brown has confirmed.
The British Open winner has been warned to take a break from golf and was forced to pull out of the Seve Trophy in the Irishman's home country last week. It came as a concern to organisers fearing a repeat of Tiger Woods' 'no show' announcement, with the world number one planning to take a three-month sabbatical from the sport.
Harrington is set to join Jim Furyk, Zach Johnson and Angel Cabrera in the elite foursome at the Mid Ocean Club later this month. A chronic neck condition, an injury to his left knee and a strained thumb are the Irishman's injuries.
Premier Brown's press secretary Glenn Jones said: "The Premier has been informed that Padraig Harrington has confirmed his appearance for the PGA Grand Slam of Golf at the Mid Ocean Club later this month.
"There had been press concern over Mr. Harrington's participation because he has recently taken time off from professional golf to give attention to his personal fatigue and injuries."
