There is evidence that it is going to be a cruel season for Paget Lions who have already lost their two first games of the season by a convincing margin.

It's a strong bet that they will not carry on a trend that has often seen the teams demoted from the Premier Division to the First respond by being promoted the very next season - but two straight hidings shows that the Lions have lost their way.

At White Hill yesterday they were trounced by Eagles, the loss following up the season-opening defeat against Hamilton Parish by a 6-1 margin.

This recent loss saw Darren Dowling hammer a hat-trick to lead Eagles to the triumph, the home side also getting two strikes from player-coach Kenny Thompson and single tallies from Anthony Webb and Anwar Thompson.

Kion Smith got the lone goal for the Lions.
