NFL record breaker Favre hints at another season
MIAMI (Reuters) - Green Bay Packers' record breaking quarterback Brett Favre has hinted that he is likely to extend his career by another season.
Favre, 38, has considered retirement at the end of previous seasons but after one of his best ever he is looking forward to Saturday's play-off with Seattle - and possibly beyond.
"I am trying to enjoy it because this could be my last game in Green Bay.
"For the first time in three years, I haven't thought this could be my last game. I would like to continue longer," Favre told South Mississippi newspaper The Sun Herald.
"I have a lot to think about. It's been a fun year and winning has made it a good year," Favre said.
"For the first time in a couple of years, at this point, my focus is solely on Seattle and winning a playoff game at home."
In December, the quarterback broke Dan Marino's record for career yards thrown - he currently stands at 61,655 yards.
Favre also owns the NFL records for career TD passes (442), pass attempts (8,758), pass completions (5,377), wins as a starting quarterback (160) and consecutive starts by a quarterback (253).
Favre said he had family backing, particularly those of his daughters, for another season with Green Bay, who he joined in 1992 after spending his rookie season with the Atlanta Falcons.
"Breleigh spoke up and said, 'Dad, don't retire.' And Brittany said, 'Dad, I think you need to play one more year," Favre told the paper.
Favre was named Sports Illustrated's Sportsman of the Year for 2007.
