Perozzi gets fight tips from Ragosina's victim

Teresa Perozzi takes on Natasha Ragosina this weekend.

Teresa Perozzi has received some inside information from Natasha Ragosina's last victim Akondaye Fountain ahead of this weekend's seven-belt showdown.

Fountain, from the US, joined Ragosina's long-list of victims last December losing by a unanimous decision after ten rounds.

Perozzi arrived in Europe earlier this week and will tackle Ragosina in the 'winner takes all' bout on Saturday in Magdeburg, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany.

Despite all the hoopla surrounding the much-fancied German-based Russian, Perozzi is sure she will beat the odds and emerge victorious.

"I've had a phone conversation with Akondaye Fountain, Ragosina's last opponent, and she told me to just fight my fight and not to pay attention to stories of Ragosina training in the mountains and all that kind of stuff," she told The Royal Gazette.

"She gave me a few tips on what to look out for. I am here to box. I am trying to stay focused on the task in hand, which is to win the fight and bring the titles back with me to Bermuda".

The 34-year-old, who spent last week in New Jersey preparing for the fight, said she has left no stone unturned and could have done no more to be ready for when the bell rings.

"When the bell rings it is only me and her in the ring", said Perozzi. "The hype over here is amazing but I must not allow myself to get involved in what they say about her."

And with the scene set for an intriguing fight, Perozzi is embracing the moment.

"We went to a mall for a little bit of show-boxing, which is kind of like shadow boxing, and there were so many people there we were bombarded. It was amazing.

"When they picked me up from the airport I was in a van that had a huge picture of the two of us on it promoting the fight. They had pictures of her all over the place."

Ragosina is younger and taller, but these factors will not intimidate Perozzi.

"The early rounds I will work inside", Perozzi continued. "I am known to be a power puncher, but if I can set her up early on with the inside work, later on I can fire off on the head.

"I have to think positive. If I go in there with doubt about my preparations I will lose."

Ragosina has never been seriously bruised or had cuts on her face, and Perozzi is looking to change all that.

"I want to put pressure on her, dictate the fight and rough her up. I know she has never been swelled up or cut so we shall see if she will keep that in tact."

With the fight mere days away, Perozzi still has things to do before she steps foot in the ring.

"Tomorrow (today) I will go to the gym to train a bit, then go to the official weigh-in and then off to an autograph signing session.

"In the end you will always doubt if you have done enough preparation before a fight, but you must believe you have done all you can and everything will fall into place."
