West Indies legends Viv Richards and Curtly Ambrose will officially launch the Island's 2008 Standford 20/20 campaign this weekend.

The former Test stars will lecture and assist members of the Island's senior, women's and Under-19 national cricket teams during practice sessions at the National Sports Centre tomorrow and Sunday.

Richards and Ambrose are due to arrive in Bermuda today when they will be reunited with former Windies team-mate Gus Logie.

"They are really looking forward to coming to Bermuda while we all are very excited about next year's Standford20/20 Tournament," commented former West Indies skipper Richie Richardson, speaking from Antigua yesterday.

Richards has been assigned as Standford20/20 Legend to Bermuda's senior national squad and during the lead-up to next year's tournament will assist in the Island's preparations as they seek to rebound from last year's humbling nine-wicket loss to Jamaica.

"All of the legends are excited about going to the various territories to try and get the teams and the associations prepared," Richardson added. "Within the next three to five years we want to have a fully professionalised Twenty20 League in the Caribbean and we are working vigorously to make this happen.

"Viv will be working with the cricket association here (BCB) and going around and having meetings and looking at the facilities just to find out what's happening and meeting the players and informing them of what is expected of them during the Twenty20- tournament."

During his brief stopover Richards will also scout up and coming talent.

"Our policy is to invest in young talent because it's all about the grass roots and development for the future," Richardson said.

"We don't see the point in picking a guy who is over 40 when there's no future for him in the game."

Bermuda take on defending Standford20/20 champions Guyana in their opening knockout clash in Antigua in January.
