Hleb faces fitness test

LONDON (Reuters) - Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger hopes Aleksandr Hleb will be fit for today's Champions League Group H match at Steaua Bucharest despite the Belarus midfielder being carried off on a stretcher at West Ham United on Saturday.

"Alex Hleb will travel," Wenger said on the Arsenal web-site (www.arsenal.com) before flying out to Romania. "We tested him for a check on his bone and a decision will be made tomorrow over whether he will play or not."

Hleb was injured by a tackle from West Ham's Mark Noble on Saturday and the extent of the bruising shocked Wenger.

"If it was an accident, it is a very bad accident, because if you see his leg it is unbelievable," Wenger said immediately after the match.

Arsenal have other injury worries for the match, namely striker Emmanuel Adebayor, who hurt his thigh against West Ham, and midfielder Mathieu Flamini who has a groin strain.

Arsenal opened their Champions League campaign with a 3-0 win over Sevilla two weeks ago, while Steaua lost 2-1 at Slavia Prague.
