Speedster Toriano Wilson (pictured above) started his race career by posting an encouraging fourth place at the weekend.

The inaugural Red Bull Rookies Cup race was held on Sunday at Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama.

Wilson, who has been the fastest rider in the AMA US Rookies Cup pre-season testing for the last two weekends, was unlucky not to get a podium position.

The winner, 13-year-old Benny Solis of Los Angeles, was at the front for most of the afternoon, battling with Argentine rival Leandro Mercado, with Solis hanging on to claim top honours.

Third place went to Hayden Gillim of Owensboro, Kentucky, with Wilson securing fourth spot.

There are 23 riders from around the world currently competing in the Red-Bull Rookies Cup.
