Serb women and Nadal ready for final push

MELBOURNE (Reuters) - A first all-Serbian grand slam final is on the cards when Jelena Jankovic and Ana Ivanovic tackle Maria Sharapova and Daniela Hantuchova in the Australian Open semi-finals today.

In the night match on Rod Laver Arena, men's Spanish second seed Rafael Nadal takes on unseeded Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

Fifth seed Sharapova, fresh from her straight-sets demolition of world number one Justine Henin, has won three of her four matches against Jankovic and will fancy her chances of reaching the Melbourne Park final for the second successive year.

The Russian, a former Wimbledon and US Open champion, has cruised through the draw and produced a scintillating performance to knock out top seed Henin.

But third seed Jankovic ousted champion Serena Williams in the quarter-finals and seems to be making light of recent injury problems.

Ivanovic made it a Serbian double over the Williams sisters when she proved too strong for Venus and the fourth seed has beaten Slovakian Hantuchova twice in three matches.

Nadal has surged through the bottom half of the men's draw without dropping a set and he beat Tsonga in straight sets in their only meeting, at last year's US Open.

Tsonga, however, has been inspired at Melbourne Park, knocking out seeds Andy Murray, Richard Gasquet and Mikhail Youzhny on the way to his first grand slam semi-final and he will have nothing to lose against the powerful Spaniard.
