Sims still in with a chance
Bermuda's top golfer Michael Sims still had a chance of making the cut in the Xerox Classic Nationwide Tour event yesterday when play was suspended because of inclement weather, with Sims still having one hole to play.
But Sims, who was three-over par for the tournament, needed a birdie at the final hole to extend his involvement into today.
He had started yesterday tied for tenth on two-under par after a first-round 68, featuring four birdies at the Irondequoit Country Club, New York.
But playing the back nine first in his second round, Sims started badly yesterday with a double-bogey six at the tenth hole and ended up with six further bogeys in his uncompleted round.
Sims also managed seven pars and three birdies, one of which came on the eighth hole, his last of the day before the weather intervened.
With the projected cut at two-over par, only a birdie at the par-five ninth will allow Sims to stay in the tournament.
