A number of new teams are planning to join the Commercial Cricket League whose annual meeting has been set for Tuesday, April 5.
Only six teams played in the league last year but secretary Dave Carruthers says at least three other clubs want to put in a side. The new season is likely to start on May 1 or the following Sunday.
All teams are asked to send a representative to the meeting to be held at the Department of Youth, Sport & Recreation starting at 5.30 p.m.
Reigning league champions St. George's will hold a prize presentation and dinner at the club auditorium tonight at 8 p.m.
TENNIS TEN The annual Calcutta Tournament, with men's and women's doubles and mixed doubles play, is set for April 8 to 10 at the Coral Beach and Tennis Club.
Entries deadline for the event, sponsored by the Bermuda National Trust, is at noon on April 4, and completed forms should be submitted to the National Trust at Waterville, the Coral Beach Tennis Shop or Gill Butterfield at Mid-Ocean Club.
Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis with fees $100 per person for a single event or $150 for two events.
Proceeds will be divided between the Bermuda National Trust and winning bidders during a silent auction involving seeded teams.
The Grotto Bay Junior Open tournament will be held from Monday, April 4 to Sunday, April 10 at the Grotto Bay tennis courts.
The event, sanctioned by the Bermuda Lawn Tennis Association, will feature categories for boys and girls ranging in ages from 10 and under to 18 and under.
Entry forms are available at all member clubs and will be accepted at the Tennis Stadium and Grotto Bay pro shop.
Deadline is tomorrow at 5 p.m.
GOLF GLF The second annual Ross (Blackie) Talbot Charity Invitational Tournament will be held on Tuesday, April 5 at Riddell's Bay.
The tournament, won last year by Ross Talbot and partner Ricky Swan, will feature prizes donated by several local firms.
The organising committee is hopeful of raising $2,000 for Summerhaven, a home for the disabled.
The tournament is being held on Blackie's 76th birthday with a 1 p.m.

ROAD RUNNING RUN The North Shore 10-miler, formerly sponsored by Evian, will be held on Sunday starting at Shelly Bay field at 9 a.m.
The race will also finish at Shelly Bay, after taking the runners along North Shore to just before West Pembroke School and back. Entry forms are available at Sportseller and New Winner's Edge and the deadline for entries is 5 p.m.

FENCING FEN Qualified coach Brian Walker is aiming to set up a fencing club on the Island for experienced fencers or those interested in taking up the sport.

SOCCER SOC St. George's Colts will hold a prize presentation following the final league match on Sunday.
TARGET SHOOTING SHO Carl Reid, with a score of 194 out of 200, was the top shooter during action this week at the Prospect Range. In second place was Nelson Simons with 192.
Reid continues to lead the competition.
