Archer blast unbeaten 156 in Prospect run

The fans at Police field were treated to a batting display as 444 runs were amassed for the loss of only eight wickets in a tame draw.

Dennis Archer headed the run chase with a masterful, unbeaten 156. Archer did not give a chance in the season's highest innings until he reached 100, his first century this term.

He stroked 16 fours and seven sixes, his second and final chance coming on 135. He faced 167 balls.

Andre Hendrickson, who made 47, shared in a 113-run stand with Archer for the second wicket after Chris Wright bowled opener Tyrone Smith (seven) with the score 24.

Jason Lewis came closest for Nationals to matching Archer's scoring rate as he hit 43 off 54 balls, which included three fours and two sixes.

But when he was third out at 109, Nationals' hopes of a dashing victory were dead.

Skipper Darrin Lewis ensured that his team left Police field with six points like the hosts with an unbeaten 66. He hit 10 fours from 122 balls.

Ossie Hinds was the top Police bowler, taking two for 35 from nine overs.

Som. Bridge 195-7 dec.

St. David's 198-6 Somerset Bridge's sporting declaration at White Hill field backfired as struggling St. David's played themselves back into form with a hard-fought four-wicket win.

Bridge gave up the opportunity of clinching an additional bonus batting point in favour of outright victory as they declared at 4.20 p.m.

Opener Robin Swan had led their batting with 69 after putting on 100 for the first wicket with Lee Raynor, Jr. (28). Stanley Simmons (23) and Brian Gibbons (37) also made good contributions with the bat. Scott Minors took two for 43 for St. David's.

Allen Richardson paved the way to victory with an entertaining knock of 87.

Gary Crofton was the best Bridge bowler with four for 74 while Brian Gibbons, the first change, took the other two wickets for 50 runs.

Warwick 205 Cleveland 208-7 Although Warwick gave one of their best batting performances of the season, it still was not sufficient to prevent Cleveland from winning this match at Southampton Oval by three wickets.

Sent in at 5 p.m. to chase after a winning target of 206, Cleveland still managed to pull off victory thanks to Aaron Adams who led them in batting with an undefeated 59. He struck five fours and batted for 80 minutes.

Others among the runs were Jermaine Postlethwaite with 37, opener Grant Smith 33 and Curtis Jackson 30.

Kallan Johnston took two for 37 and Eugene Pitt two for 51. Johnston earlier led Warwick to their respectable total by scoring 57 while Eugene Pitt followed with 37. The lower-order batsmen, Johnston at number eight and Pitt at number nine, joined in an eighth-wicket stand that added 80 taking the score from 98.

Sheridan Ming added 34 and Kevin Dill 22.

Albert Simons took four for 46 off 20 overs and Johnny Richardson had three for 66 from 20.5 overs.
