BAA, Colts in battle at the bottom
two sides desperately seeking to get out of the doldrums.
Devonshire Colts and BAA both find themselves staring relegation in the face and will be anxious to emerge with both points.
Worst off are BAA, who anchor the division with just nine points from 12 matches, while Colts are only slightly better off having garnered 10 from 11 fixtures and occupy eighth place.
Colts last tasted victory in the league on December 4 of last year and have just two victories overall in their last six matches, although they are expected to receive the points from an abandoned match against Devonshire Cougars on January 15 -- a game in which they led 1-0 when referee Rex Osborne called a halt because of bottle being thrown onto the pitch.
Coach Lorenzo Symonds has constantly reshuffled his line-up in an attempt to find the right combination, but the results have yet to come.
Once regarded as a team on the rise, Colts this season have slipped back into the realm of mediocrity.
It was only during the 1992-93 season that Colts, possessing a youthful brigade, challenged for every major trophy on offer. They were runners-up in the Friendship Trophy, FA Cup and League. They followed this with a third place finish in the League a year ago and great things had been predicted.
However, the loss of Quincy Aberdeen to school abroad, Mark Ray's transfer to Vasco, Keishon Smith's involvement with the `Miami Seven' scandal and an assortment of injuries to key players have severely dented any hopes of success in 1995.
Still, a win tonight by two goals or more would vault Colts to fifth in the standings.
BAA, on the other hand, entered the season with no such grand plans and most sceptics predicted the plight in which the Woodlands Road club are now mired.
A workman-like attitude and performance earned them the right to be members of the top flight and it is that same conviction which they hope will keep them there and overcome a lack of raw talent.
Johnny Adams' men will not surrender as players remain confident of their ability to persist.
Nothing would do more for their collective psyche than a win tonight, which would push them off the bottom to eighth, such is the closeness of the division which has a mere five points separating the third placed team from the 10th.
Preceding tonight's encounter will be a Women's League match pitting Rude Girls against BAA Telecom.
