The first match featured a hand picked `Celebrity' team, including the likes of Deputy Premier Jerome Dill, PLP MP Dennis Lister, Sports Minister Tim Smith and Dr. Gordon Campbell among others, against faculty and staff members, with the latter running out 12-10 victors in the 15-minute contest.
Faculty and staff led 10-6 midway through, with the Celebrities drawing close towards the end.
Meanwhile, the second match featured a `Dream' team with the likes of cricketers Arnold Manders, Jeff Richardson and Allan Douglas, politician Nelson Bascome, sailor Lee White, netballers Tracy Sharrieff and Rose Richardson among others.
They were matched against a team of current Bermuda College students, with the more youthful crop ending up 13-10 winners in a very competitive affair.
JUNIOR GOLF GLF Ideal playing conditions last weekend produced some excellent golf scores during play in the BJGA tournament at Belmont.
Andrew Trott fired a one-over-par 71 to top Group Five followed by Justin Barritt on 76 and Aaron James on 77.
In Group Four, Neil Fenton led the way with an 81 with Matthew Durrant two shots beind on 83 and RJ Pachai third on 88.
Group Three action saw Ryan Marshall top the section with an 84 which was three shots ahead of second placed R.V.Pachai. Aaron Burrows was third on 89.
Kwame Caisey won Group Two with a 63 over 13 holes, edging out Davon Smith on retrogression. Bonnie Leibovitch was third on 65.
In Group One, Jarryd Dillas shot a steady 42 over nine holes while Ted Terceira followed two shots behind. Landrau Bascombe was third on 43. In the novice programme at Riddell's Bay, Tyler Marshall fired 30 over five holes.
Thomas Edwards was second on 31 while Slayton Outerbridge and Romano Dill tied for thrd on 32.
Tournament play continues this Saturday at Port Royal for Groups Three, Four and Five while Groups One and Two play at Ocean View.
SQUASH SQU Giant killer Stephen Young knocked out another national team player when he eliminated Tony Prentice 3-2 in the Division One semi-finals of the Shell Handcicap Tournament on Wednesday.
In the other semi, Dave Conte needed four games to defeat Rod Holloway.
In Division Two play, James Stout was ousted by fellow junior international Daniele Bortoli 3-1 and in Division Three, Naz Jetha dashed the final hopes of Jill Curran in a match that was settled 15-14 in the fifth game. The other semi-final between policemen Tony Bukhari and Gary Vennin resulted in a straight games win for Bukhari.
