Bermuda in the spotlight!
`Ambassador for Bermuda.' For Mr. Dryden, number three at the seat of UK power in Bermuda, propelled the Island into a host of UK national newspapers -- because of a derby day soccer match in a Scottish city.
Scotsman Mr. Dryden -- a fan of Dundee Football Club -- has helped organise a party to celebrate the team's crunch fixture with neighbouring Dundee United hitting the satellite TV big time.
Mr. Dryden said Dundee City Council had sponsored the broadcast of the match in a deal thought to be unique.
And the Bermuda party to be held at Flanagan's bar on Saturday morning captured the imagination of a host of British newspapers, including the top-selling Sun, and the Daily Mirror.
Mr. Dryden has also been interviewed on the BBC's Five Alive radio station and by BBC TV.
He said yesterday: "Basically, Bermuda has been all over the papers this week because of this game.'' Mr. Dryden admitted: "I was flabbergasted -- the level of interest has been unbelievable.
The match -- which will be picked up from Puerto Rico to the North Pole -- was sponsored by the Scots local authority as part of an ad campaign to promote the city as a business and tourism destination.
And Mr. Dryden invited exiled Scots -- and anyone else -- to the screening at Flanagan's, which starts at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
He added a taste of Scotland will also be provided -- Forfar Bridies, a kind of pasty, and Dundee cake will be available at half-time and a raffle will be held as well, with the possibility of a kilt-clad piper.
