Bermuda played superbly to beat Martinique 24-10, Trinidad Enthusiasts 30-0 and Barbados Scorpions 31-0 in their group matches before going down 21-0 to eventual tournament winners Africanadians, a team made up of five Springbok and three Canadian internationals.

Bermuda also defeated GF United from Venezuela 24-12 which put them through to the quarter-finals where they were matched with perennial powerhouses Border Reevers -- a select squad from the Border area of Scotland comprising of Gala and Hawick players. Bermuda ran out 26-17 winners with Daniel Olsen leading the assault along with Alvin Harvey, Gareth Davies and Ross Webber who all scored tries.

But they suffered a blow when Alan Oliver ruptured knee ligaments and could be out of action for six to eight weeks.

Mike Gorrie and Scott Correia created break after break while Peter Shillingford defended aggressively as Patrick Cooper Sean Field and David Olsen scavenged and destroyed.

In the semi-final Trinidad and Tobago were able to salvage a little of their pride after Thursday's 15-a-side defeat at the hands of Bermuda as they defeated the Bermuda team 29-12.

However, Africanadians ran out deserved 29-10 winners against the hosts in the final.

The Bermuda team, who return tomorrow, have now been invited to the Venezuela Sevens in December.
