Bermuda placed third out of eight countries in the Caribbean Union of Teachers meet, collecting a total of 21 medals, including six gold, against some 300 top scholastic athletes.

They were led in their medal chase by the duo of Raneika Bean and Janine Scott, both of whom were named Outstanding Athletes by organisers.

Bean set a games record in the under-15 high jump, clearing five feet, four inches, and also struck gold in the 100 metres (12.4 seconds) and 4 x 100 relay, while adding a silver as part of the 4 x 800 medley relay team containing Kristen Eve, Scott and Patrina Swan.

Meanwhile, Scott shone in the sprints, breaking the tape in the under-15 400 metres in 57.5 and similarly exhausting the competition in the 200 ( 25.5).

Additionally, Scott captured gold as part of the 4 x 100 relay team, one that included Bean, Swan and Angela Brangman.

Another quadruple medallist was Swan, who won the Under-15 800 and added silver in the long jump to go with her relay medals.

Barbados topped the medal charts with a total of 49 medals (30 gold, 14 silver, five bronze). Trinidad and Tobago were second with 13 gold, 21 silver, 17 bronze).
