Bermuda's game fishing season officially opens at 7.30 a.m. on Sunday, May 7, with the Louis Mowbray Memorial Opening Day Tournament and Fleet Parade.
A change in the start procedure this year will allow boats to avoid the long journey to Somerset from Hamilton Harbour. Instead, boats will assemble on the Sound side of Watford Bridge, while those unable to pass under the bridge will assemble in Mangrove Bay.
Boats will return at 4.30 p.m. to either weigh station -- Market Wharf or Dockyard.
Registration forms regarding the tournament are available at the reception desk of the Department of Tourism, Flybridge Tackle or The Sportsman's Shop.
BOWLING BOW Pembroke Juniors improved their chances of catching top team Buy and Sell following a 18-9 victory over the Barritt's Sportsmen's League leaders.
Buy and Sell had little chance against the rampant Juniors, whose Dean Lightbourne and the Jones' -- Woody and Antoine -- lit the lanes.
Woody led the way with a individual high series 604 and fifth high game 213, while Lightbourne and Antoine contributed series of 594 and 574, allowing for a team high series 2,836 and game 976.
To their credit Buy and Sell registered the second high team series (2,598) but this was not nearly enough to offset the in-form Juniors outfit.
Fortifying their second place standing were Sparks, who downed basement dwellers Young Blood 16-11 as Reggie Saunders had a 231 game.
Remaining games saw Warwick Whites defeat Warwick Reds 15-12 in a local derby, while Social Club and Mini Forwarders fought to a 131 -131 tie.
Schedule: Warwick Reds v Social Club; Warwick Whites v Mini Forwarders; Buy & Sell v Sparks; Young Blood v Pembroke Juniors.
GOLF GLF Somerset Bridge Recreation Club will hold a golf tournament at Ocean View Golf and Country Club on Sunday with a 7.30 a.m. shotgun start.
