Big match pitch hard and uneven
there are few flat areas suitable for sport and hence only three full-sized soccer pitches exist in the country.
Sunday's match will be played at the A.O.Shirley Recreation Ground in the capital Road Town on the biggest of the islands, Tortola.
The playing surface is hard and very uneven -- not surprising perhaps, as the field seems to be in constant communal use by day and by night, when the pitch is floodlit.
One of the goalmouths is bereft of grass, while near the half-way line is a raised strip of ground used as a cricket wicket.
Yesterday, schoolchildren were practising their athletics on the pitch and on Tuesday night, the BVI team were unable to use the full field for training because of an impromptu game of cricket.
Coach Grant admitted the lack of pitches caused him a problem.
"The Recreation Ground is where we train, but because everyone else is using it, we can't really call it our home,' said Grant.
