Cann named Rider of the Year
prize presentation for the recently completed season.
Gary Cann picked up eight titles and awards, champion in both the 60cc and 80cc, with 47 wins in the 60cc and 24 in the 80cc for the most wins overall of 71. He also had the most `holeshots' in both classes and capped it all off with the Rider of the Year award.
Zahkie Iris won the 50cc class in his second year of trying, as he also finished with the most wins by any rider, 48.
Melonie Munro won the 80cc Modified class with the most wins in the class (31) to finish as the first female champion.
After eight long years of trying on 80cc and 125C bikes, Treadwell Nesbitt finally grabbed the number one plate in the 125C class while Craig Panchaud was runner-up in the bigger class with 21 wins, the most in the class.
The 125B winner had twice been runner-up in nine years. But this season Jamel Pitcher came out of retirement to have some fun and ended up taking class honours with 13 wins, one less for the season than American Dave Oettel who didn't race the whole season.
Pitcher suffered misfortune with two broken wrists but was fortunate that his rivals also had bad luck.
Other awards went to Jonte Smith as Rookie of the Year, Loronzo Burch as the Most Improved Rider and Wentworth Tucker and Ashley Simmons for sportsmanship.
