Cann: Scotland must wait

Arbroath to return home in an attempt to retain his spot with the St. George's Cup Match team.

And he also plans to play in the final of the Eastern Counties at the end of next month which could mean the all-rounder being absent from Scotland's Strathmore Union League for almost six weeks.

"I have been in contact with Arbroath but there are some matters here that I want to take care of first,'' said the former St.David's captain this week.

"I'm hoping to get out of here right after Cup Match but County is definitely on my list.'' Cann brings with him an impressive record in both the batting and bowling departments. He has scored 634 runs at an average of 48.77 and has taken 28 wickets -- performances which have helped Arbroath climb to fifth in the 15-team standings for limited overs play.

In recent games, he scored 30 out of 219 and then claimed three for 42 as Arbroath were beaten by five wickets by Dundee.

Arbroath then defeated Inverurie by 17 runs, scoring 229 with Cann hitting 87, including six fours and two sixes. They dismissed their opponents for 212 with Cann claiming two for 24.

Against Gordonians, Cann took three for 31 in the Gordonians total of 204 and then scored 37 as Arbroath could only manage 156 in reply. They also lost their next match against Forfar, 139 to 140-3, with the Bermudian scoring 42 and taking one wicket.

A century has still eluded Cann as he finished with 97 not out last Wednesday in a 20-overs evening fixture against Strathmore who scored 176 with Cann taking four for 49. Arbroath replied with 179-3 as Cann hit five sixes and eight fours in his best knock of the season.

"I was disappointed not to get the century but the main thing was that we won,'' said Cann.
